Do you remember when God said, "Let there be light" and it appeared just as He commanded it?
Reference Genesis 1:1-4 (KJV Bible)

Well, I think it's very interesting and a powerful object lesson for us to note the following things:

1. God saw and was very aware of the earth's need for light.
2. God commanded light to be upon the earth before beginning His work on earth and provided for our work to be done eventually in that same light.
3. God called "light", "day".
4. God called "darkness","night".
5. God divided the light from darkness (day from night).
6. Even in the night, God supplied some light

Have you ever experienced a "black out" due to a storm, only to find out you have no candle or flashlight to see your way around? This would be terribly dangerous, because you would stumble every step of the way and possibly get hurt. However, it is an awesome revelation to know that God does not take pleasure in our walking and working in darkness. Therefore, He has given light for our days and our nights.

Be encouraged today! God wants to grant you and I His Light upon our way. Let us realize our need today and declare in a prayer of agreement with God over our "needy state", "Let there be light" and I believe it will be so. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "In all thy ways, acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path."

In our next devotion, I will continue to look at the type of light God has provided for us.

Stephanie
